Entertainment Club
The Knox Club Entertainment Group idea was formed in 1995 with a group of members that knew each other from Karaoke held at the club on a Thursday night. Our group is still going strong in 2007 with 20 active members. We originally started out with 2 musicians and practiced at member’s houses. Once we were further established we then started regular fortnightly practices at the club rooms on a Wednesday night. When our musicians were no longer available, we reverted to using Karaoke Accompaniment at our practices and monthly shows.

We perform once a month on a Sunday afternoon from 1.30p.m until 3.00p.m. at Retirement Villages, Aged Care and Elderly citizens accommodation. We are a non-profit group and do not charge the venues, so they are happy to provide us with afternoon tea thus giving us further time to intermingle with the residents after the show has finished.

We sing songs to suit our audience and enjoy the interaction by encouraging them wherever possible to take part by dancing, clapping and just having a good time. We do individual singing as well as group and community songs. Our main purpose is to provide entertainment and company to the people we visit, whether it be by singing or just partaking in the day with the group.

We held our first Seniors’ Community Day at the Knox Club on Sunday the 28th April 2002. Our theme was Anzac Day. This was a wonderful and enjoyable experience for us all to have our friends visit us at the Knox Club where we could give them an extra special show with costumes, props and decorations. We had guests from Amaroo, Dunelm and Knox Retirement Village from whom we received wonderful feedback and our now regular visitors to our shows. Afternoon tea was provided by the Knox Club. Totally supported by the Knox Club Committee, Management and Staff, we now continue to do a Xmas show each year providing approx 100 small gifts to our guests.

Over the years we have visited many places within the Knox local area and surrounding suburbs, namely Amaroo, Balmorral, Centennial Lodge, Villa Maria, Adare Nursing, Knox Residential Care, Knox Retirement in Wantirna, Mingarra, Eastern District Aged Care, Dunelm in Croydon, Glengollan and Coogee Nursing Home in Boronia, Clarendon Grange and Heritage Gardens in Bayswater, Diane Street Lodge and Donwood in East Ringwood.

Our group also gets involved with other club events such as the yearly, Cancer Council Golf Fundraising Day, and all the Sub Club Intra Challenge events through out the year.

Memberships fees are $15.00 per annum. We wear uniformed red polo shirt with long, black pants or black skirts. Shirts depend on stock availability at time of joining.

Fortnightly practices will be held at the Knox Club once we can establish room availability pending completion of renovations.
